Gran Canaria

Saga Pearl II blog - Captains' blogs

11th January, 2019

We embarked our pilot at 7am this morning and again are the only cruise ship in port today – fantastic. Light breeze and sunshine greeted us as we came alongside and the forecast is for highs of 22 degrees C today which is great in January time!

Gran Canaria – certainly one of my top 2 islands in the Canaries and I always enjoy exploring the local port area or coming here on holiday with my family. The city of Las Palmas itself is the largest city in the Canary Islands so always lots to see and do!!

Many of our guests on tour today or sitting on the outside decks getting a sun tan – exactly what I would do if I were on holiday. A little walk down the beach for me and a coffee in Starbucks – how cultured am I?!

We departed around 8pm and next island hop stop is Fuerteventura. We have the pleasure of welcoming back Duo Esencias to the stage tonight so that should be a great show.
