    No visit to Seattle is complete without a trip to the top of the Space Needle. Originally built as a tourist attraction for the city's 1962 World's Fair, the structure was meant to evoke the future. Now the future is here, the Needle has become the city's favorite antique. A dancer figure, with its arms skyward, served as inspiration for architect Victor Steinbrueck's design.
  • Portland's Rose Garden
    Five acres in Washington Park were set aside as a rose-growing test garden in 1917. During World War I, the Portland Rose Garden became a haven for varieties European growers feared would be destroyed during the bombing, and today it is the oldest official, continuously operated public rose test garden in the United States with more than 8,000 rose plants.
