Batiks and Temple tour (half day)

Your first stop on this tour is Panadura, where you visit a workshop to watch batiks being made, followed by a visit to the temple in Kalutara.

Bentota River Cruise (half-day)

Look out for fish and fowl on this half-day boat trip. See Mangroves and various marsh plants and a variety of water birds and wildlife to the area. You can also see fishermen casting their nets, or fishing with a rod and line.

Galle Turtle Hatchery (three-quarter day)

Visit a turtle hatchery just outside Galle.

Madhu River Cruise (half day)

Enjoy a scenic cruise along the Madhu River. Pause to view a 200-year-old temple and to watch the locals cultivating cinnamon. You will also see traditional fishing techniques in action and demonstrations of coir manufacture and rope making.

Ratnapura (half day)

This tour goes south-east via Avissawella, passing rubber plantations, paddy fields and tea estates. You stop in Ratnapura, the ‘City of Gems’, and see Adam’s Peak in the distance. Visit the gem mines of Ratnapura and enjoy a stop at Saman Devala.

Plantations and Stately Home tour (half day)

Your first stop on this excursion will be at Richmond Castle, a stately home that now houses a nursery for local children, and, if you wish, you may like to bring sweets and stationery that can be distributed to the children.

Afterwards you are taken for a drive though the tea plantations of the Low Country, where you have the opportunity to visit a factory.

Optional excursions

Tea Plantation visit in Mathugama (half day)

After breakfast, you'll depart from Cinnamon Bey and travel to Mathugama, approximately 25 kilometres away, for a visit to a tea plantation and factory.

Galle Fort (half day)

After lunch, you'll travel approximately 72 kilometres to Galle in the afternoon for a sighteeing tour of the city. It houses a fantastically well-preserved 300 year-old fort, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

During this excursion, you'll also have the opportunity to visit a local fish market. Then, at sun down, you'll enjoy a glass of chilled beer or a hot drink within the Galle Fort premises, before returning to Cinnamon Bey in the evening.
