Los Angeles sightseeing
Enjoy an included sightseeing excursion of Los Angeles on our Western Wonders tour.
Founded in the 19th century by American immigrants and Mexican ranchers, Las Angeles was originally named El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de Los Angeles or the ‘City of Our Lady, the Queen of Angels’.
When the railroads came in the 1880s, the town began to grow as people flocked to California in search of sunshine, land and work in the citrus orchards. However, it was after the Second World War when the real boom started, as the aeronautics industry took off.
Today LA has come to epitomise the ‘American Dream’.
Your tour takes you through Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive and the film mecca of Hollywood. Moving pictures started here nearly a century ago when movie-makers such D W Griffith were attracted by the region’s relaxed patent laws, excellent weather and diverse scenery.
