  • Split
The largest city on the Adriatic coast, and the second largest in Croatia, ancient and historic Split developed from the magnificent Roman Diocletian’s Palace, which, debatably, may have replaced an earlier Greek settlement.
  • The island of Hvar
Hvar, set in a beautiful natural bay and a safe haven for boats throughout the year, was an important naval base during the 500 years it was an independent commune in the Venetian Empire.
  • The ancient town of Korcula
The ancient fortified town of Korcula, on the east coast of Korcula island, has its streets built in a herringbone pattern as protection from the wind and has some interesting historic sights, including the Marco Polo Tower.
