  • Petra, Jordan
Petra, one of the seven wonders of the world, is famous for its unique rock-cut architecture. It was built by the Nabataeans as their capital around 100BC and was unknown to the West until 1812.
  • Mount Nebo
Mount Nebo, crowned by the Brazen Serpent sculpture, is one of Jordan's most revered holy sites. The Prophet Jeremiah hid the tabernacle and the Ark of the Covenant here, and it is also the location of Moses' death and burial.
  • Ruins of Jerash
Ancient Jerash, in the north of Jordan, is a well-preserved Roman city. It was home to Nicomachus, author of ‘Introduction to Mathematics’, which was written around 2,000 years ago and remained a standard maths textbook for over 1,000 years. You can visit this site on an optional excursion.
  • The Dead Sea
At nearly 10% saltier than the ocean, the Dead Sea is great to relax in. It should perhaps be considered one of the world’s first health resorts, one of its devotees being King David.
  • Wadi Rum
Since prehistoric times many cultures have lived in Wadi Rum, a valley in southwest Jordan. But is perhaps best known as being the base of operations for T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) from 1917 to 1918.
