  • Lassithi Plateau
In Spring, when the mountain snow melts, the water that runs down enriches the earth with minerals and makes the Lassithi Plateau an extremely fertile area. The rarest plant in Crete, the silver leaved bindweed, grows on the eastern side of the massif.
  • Imperial Bélvédere Hotel
Built in 2001, the Imperial Bélvédere hotel has a hilltop setting surrounded by lemon, olive and palm trees in Hersónissos by the village of Koutouloufari in Crete, the largest of the Greek islands.
  • Venetian Fortress
Just off the holiday village of Eloúnda is the island of Spinalonga, which was originally a peninsula. At its northern tip is a Venetian fortress, which was built in 1579 and enlarged in 1585. It withstood Turkish sieges for longer than any other Cretan stronghold.
  • Knossos
The famous Minoan Palace of Knossos is the monumental symbol of Minoan civilisation. The Knossos settlement was the seat of the legendary King Minos, who came to hold an important place in Greek mythology and featured in many fascinating stories.
  • Spinalonga
Enjoy a boat trip to the beautiful island of Spinalonga, located on the north eastern coast of Crete. The island was fortified and kept as a defensive post by the Venetians during their rulership of this area - the ruins of these impressive defences can be seen today.
