  • Cologne's twin-spired Gothic cathedral
This magnificent cathedral, dedicated to St Peter and St Mary, was begun in the 13th century as a suitable repository for the golden reliquary containing the bones of the Three Magi. • Historic Strasbourg
Strasbourg is the capital of Alsace and the largest river port in France. Founded on the site of the Roman fort of Argentoratum, it was a free city within the German Empire in medieval times. It joined France during the reign of Louis XIV, in 1681, but was seized by Germany in 1870 and not restored to France until 1918.
  • Picturesque Amsterdam
Amsterdam is one of Europe’s most vibrant cities with much to see and do, from famous bridges and pretty canals to the impressive Royal Palace and an array of museums and galleries. The city centre is characterised by its streets of historic, narrow-fronted buildings.
  • The small German town of Breisach
Breisach stands at the foot of a range of hills known as the Kaiserstühl, which reach heights of about 500 metres. The Kaiserstühl district is served by its own local private railway, the Kaiserstühlbahn, and has its own local beer, produced by a distillery in Riegel, about 20 kilometres from Breisach.
  • Rüdesheim, Germany
