    The traditional wooden sailing boats used particularly along the Nile, called felucca, have a crew of two or three and can usually carry around ten passengers on a gentle cruise along the great river.
  • Abu Simbel
    Relocated in their entirety in the1960s to save them from the waters of Lake Nasser, Abu Simbel comprises two huge rock temples created in the 13th-century BC during the reign of Ramses II. You will have the opportunity to explore this complex of temples if you choose to join an optional excursion.
  • The Unfinished Obelisk
    The Unfinished Obelisk, located in Aswan, gives an enthralling insight into ancient Egyptian stone-working techniques. Work on the obelisk was abandoned when a crack was found in the granite. If completed it would have measured around 42 metres and would have weighed nearly 1,200 tons.
  • Luxor, the 'world's greatest open air museum'
    Known as the ‘world’s greatest open-air museum’, the city of Luxor stands on the site of ancient Thebes and the modern city has built up around the ruins of Karnak and the Luxor Temple.
  • Karnak Temple
    Close to Luxor and part of the monumental city of Thebes, the Karnak Temple Complex was built and in use over a great many years, with around 30 pharaohs all adding diverse buildings.
