If you would like to explore independently, you can use our free shuttle bus service which will take you from the ship to the nearest town or city centre. This service is available at most ports when the distance between the ship and town is over 500 yards.

At each port of call you can choose from an exciting selection of optional excursions. These are usually exclusively for Saga so the guide can focus solely on your group and only needs to speak in English. A Saga representative will also accompany you on the coach.

A few weeks before your cruise we will send you a detailed booklet which gives you the chance to pre-book. Alternatively, you can visit the Tours and Travel Office once you are on board and our staff will be happy to book your preferred tours, subject to availability.

Joining an organised tour is a great value way to see the sights as every Saga excursion includes entrance fees, transport and the services of an English-speaking guide. Refreshments and lunch are sometimes included too, so you can enjoy yourself without worrying about the costs mounting up.

Please note: All excursions mentioned are optional, at an additional cost and are subject to availability and change. Some of the highlights detailed on the cruises may only be seen on optional excursions or by exploring independently.

Making a difference to the places you visit

 

Saga cruisegoers, officers and crew have a strong tradition of supporting sustainable projects in developing countries that are visited by our ships, and thousands of pounds have gone towards good causes.

For example, money raised on our World Cruises has built nurseries in Peru and South Africa, provided facilities for an orphanage in Kenya, and given much-need support to the Bantay Bata Child Welfare programme in the Philippines.
