Hotel Kaktus Albir has excellent facilities, including an indoor heated rooftop pool with a Jacuzzi and sun terraces, and an outdoor pool with excellent sea views
The following excursions are included on all standard Saga holidays of at least seven nights’ duration at the Hotel Kaktus Albir.
The lovely old village of Finestrat is unique in that it is an inland mountain village and also a small tourist resort by the sea, Cala Finestrat. The village is situated by the mountain area of Puig Campana and offers beautiful views from the mountains down to the sea. Its architecture has a distinct Moorish influence.
Head further north into the Jalon Valley to experience village life. You then descend into the Girona River Valley and arrive in Benidoleig, where the cave of Las Calaveras (‘Cave of Skulls’) was formed about 135,000,000 years ago. It is approximately 400 metres long and up to 50 metres high. Bones of a large number of prehistoric animals have been found. To enter the cave, you need to pay an admission of approximately €3.
Continue to Moraira, where you can enjoy lunch and explore the town. You continue along the coast to Calpe, where you can wander around the harbour.
In addition to the above, the following excursions are included on holidays of 14 nights or longer. Subject to availability, guests staying seven nights may be able to purchase these excursions:
Enjoy a visit to Elche, a town famous for its vast number of palm trees. Its ochre-coloured houses produce a Moorish effect. The Palm Museum and the ruins of the former Alcázar or Moorish castle, are sights well worth seeing.
After leaving Elche, you continue to the bustling port and provincial capital of Alicante, which is famous for its luminous skies. Its name derives from the Roman name for the city: Lucentum – the ‘city of light’. Attractions include the stylish promenade, the cathedral of St Nicholas, the baroque Town Hall and the Castillo de Santa Barbara fortress.
Visit Jávea, a small town that is in two parts. The old quarter stands on high ground at the foot of the Montgó mountains, and has a 14th-century fortified church. The modern resort area, with its Parador, has grown up around the harbour and sandy beach.
