Tsavo East National Park
Tsavo is Kenya’s largest conservation area and is split into East and West zones by the Mombasa-Nairobi highway. Both parks account for about 4% of the country’s surface area, and Tsavo East, the larger of the two, offers diverse scenery and excellent opportunities for game-viewing.

Galana River
Athi-Galana-Sabaki River is the second longest river in Kenya - it rises as the Athi River and enters the Indian Ocean as Galana River. It passes through Tsavo East National Park, where it is interrupted by a series of rapids, the Lugard Falls.
Red elephants
Tsavo East National Park is patrolled by some of the country’s largest elephant herds. These pachyderms are often referred to as ‘red elephants’ owing to their tendency to wallow in the red soil and mud predominant in the park.
