all inclusive basis.

Your Programme

Enjoy four full-day and one half-day excursions with visits to:

Paestum: The museum contains funerary paintings found in numerous tombs, the most famous being the Tomb of the Diver. Explore the museum and ancient site founded by Greek colonists in the 6th century BC, known for its three
Doric temples.

Naples Museum: Excavations of the Vesuvius eruption began at Herculaneum in the 19th century. View many of the objects discovered at the site on a visit to the National Archaeological Museum of Naples.

Pompeii: Marvel at the city preserved in pyroclastic ash from the eruption of Vesuvius in 79AD. A forum, temples, thermal baths and theatres are among
the relics.

Herculaneum and Villa Oplontis: Visit another perfectly preserved site, the town of Herculaneum. Then visit the residential Villa Poppalea in Oplontis.

Phlegraean Fields: Including the Cave of Sybil, the Roman cisitern, and Pozzuoli with its amphitheatre.

Out and about

You can catch a train from the station, under a kilometre away, to Vico Equense in just three minutes.

You can carry on to Sorrento, 10 kilometres away, or head the opposite way for Pompeii (20 kilometres) or Naples (40 kilometres) and perhaps explore Herculaneum or the paradise island of Capri.

The pavement is intermittent en route to the station. There’s a public bus stop 500 metres from the hotel and a free shuttle bus runs to Vico Equense several times a week and Sorrento three days a week.

The hotel is approximately one hour's drive from Naples airport.

Sorrento is the major town and has a rich tradition as a tourist destination. First came the Etruscans, Greeks and Romans, and since its addition to the Grand Tour in the 18th century, Sorrento has played host to a succession of distinguished guests such as Byron, Keats and Goethe.

Part of its appeal lies in its fantastic setting amid lush hills in southern Italy's historic Campania region. It offers fantastic views of the Bay of Naples and is surrounded by olive groves, walnut trees and vineyards that thrive in the
fertile soil.

Campania is a wonderful holiday destination that was known to the Romans as ‘campania felix’ – the happy land. From here you can discover the beautiful southern Italian countryside and the Amalfi Coast, as well as the hustle and bustle of Naples, the relaxed islands of Capri and Ischia and the rich history of some of Italy’s most famous ancient sites including Pompeii and Paestum.

Campania is also a great winter destination as all the facilities in the cities and towns stay open and attractions such as Pompeii are less crowded.
