Founded in 408 BC, beautiful Rhodes has a fascinating history and is reputed to be Europe's oldest inhabited medieval town. Its ramparts were constructed by the Knights of St John, who ruled the island for two hundred years.
Beyond the bustling harbour, popularly regarded as the most beautiful in Greece, the island is a peaceful haven, with a hilly interior and a coastline dotted with pretty bays, many accessible only by water taxi.
