Day 1 UK to Beijing
After taking Saga’s included UK door-to-door travel service to Heathrow, depart in the afternoon for your overnight flight to Beijing.
Day 2 Beijing
On arrival you are met and taken to the New Century Hotel (4Q) for a three-night stay.
Dinner is at your hotel.
Day 3 Forbidden City and Tian'anmen Square
Visit the Forbidden City and Tian’anmen Square. Later, perhaps enjoy an optional rickshaw ride. Enjoy a Peking duck dinner at a local restaurant tonight.
Day 4 The Great Wall and Summer Palace
An included tour will take you to the Great Wall and 18th-century Summer Palace. You will also have the option to visit Beijing’s stadiums for the 2008 Olympic Games. Dinner is included tonight.
Day 5 Beijing to Xi'an
Today you fly to Xi’an, one of the oldest cities in Chinese history, where you will tour the Old City Wall which dates back to the 14th century Ming Dynasty.
You stay two nights at the Grand New World Hotel (4Q).
Day 6 Terracotta Warriors
The Terracotta Warriors will be your next unforgettable landmark on an included visit. You also visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda before perhaps ending the day with an optional Tang Dynasty Show. Dinner is included tonight.
Day 7 Xi'an to Nanjing
Fly to Nanjing and visit the Confucius Temples on an included visit. Stay at the Jin Ling Hotel (4Q), with dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 8 Sun Yatsen's Mausoleum and Chiang Kiashek Hall
On an included excursion visit Sun Yatsen’s Mausoleum and Chiang Kiashek Memorial Hall. Later, board a train to Suzhou and stay two nights at the Grand Trustel Aster Hotel (4Q).
Day 9 Suzhou
See the Chinese Master of Nets Garden on an included visit. Enjoy a short cruise on the Grand Canal and a visit to the Embroidery Institute. Dinner is at your hotel tonight.
Day 10 Suzhou to Shanghai
Travel by road to Shanghai, visiting the Bund waterfront. You will have time in the shopping district of Nanjing Roa. You stay two nights at the Jin Jiang Hotel (4Q). Dinner is included tonight.
Shanghai looks like a fairyland when lit at night, and you can see the city in all its splendour on this relaxing cruise along the Huangpu River. You'll see the city's most famous landmark, the Bund, which is beautifully lit along the harbour. After the cruise you can enjoy a walk along the Bund to the famous and historic Peace Hotel, which served as the centre of nightlife in the 1920s and 1930s.
Day 11 Shanghai sightseeing
Visit Yu Garden and the Temple of the Jade Buddha on an included visit, before spending the afternoon at leisure. This evening you may like to see an acrobatic show. Dinner is included tonight.
The New Shanghai Circus presents their thrilling show at the Magnolia Theatre. It lasts 1½ hours and features Chinese acrobatic skills such as contortionists, foot juggling, hoop-driving and plate-spinning.Five acrobats ride motorcycles within an enclosed iron ball with a diameter of about six metres. You can imagine how crowded it is inside, but they manage to do all kinds of tricks as well as staying on their bikes without crashing into other riders!
Day 12 Shanghai to UK
Travel to the airport for your return flight to the UK, arriving in the evening for your onward UK VIP door-to-door travel service home.
