Located to the west of Kruger National Park, the Karongwe Private Game Reserve is home to a variety of indigenous African animals including elephant, lion, leopard and over 350 species of birds.

The town of Phalaborwa is a one-hour drive away. The lodge is approximately one hours' drive from Phalaborwa Airport.

Olilfants River Valley

Rich in both fascinating wildlife and spectacular scenery, the Valley of the Olifants is home to an array of indigenous flora and fauna, which are sustained by the waters of the Olifants River.

Flowing from the Drakensberg Mountains to the plains of the Lowveld, the river is one of the main tributaries of the Limpopo River and provides the main natural water supply to the area. The river attracts an abundance of African wildlife, including giraffe.

Game drives

Five game drive are included during your stay. The very best time to view wildlife is normally during the cooler parts of the day (early morning and late in the afternoon/early in the evening), when the animals will be more active. These drives take place on the Karongwe Private Game Reserve, accompanied by experienced rangers and Shangaan trackers. As you would expect, none of the wildlife sightings, whatever the season, mentioned in this itinerary are guaranteed.

Kruger National Park

Enjoy a full-day safari in Kruger National Park – one of the most famous game parks in the world. At almost the size of Switzerland, it's also one of the biggest, as well as being the oldest, established in 1898. You may be lucky enough to see some of the 'big five' here, as well as glimpses of zebra, cheetah, giraffe and hippo. Although you may have seen African animals in zoos, nothing can prepare you for seeing the animals in their natural environment. Please note that due to the road transfer from Shiduli Private Game Lodge to the Kruger National Park, this excursion is conducted in an air-conditioned minibus rather the open safari vehicles that are used within the Karongwe Reserve.
