With its own private beach and lagoon, you can enjoy endless opportunities for snorkelling or diving (at an extra charge). You can also explore the old town of Quseir, much of which is being restored in a UNESCO-led initiative, located just three kilometres away.

Quseir will give you an insight into typical Egyptian daily life as you wander around its narrow streets, laid-back bazaars, 16th-century fort and historic trading port. The resort is also well placed for visiting Luxor and Hurghada. Marsa Alam airport is approximately 45 minutes' drive away and Hurghada airport is approximately one-and-a-half hours' drive away.

Quseir

Quseir, an unspoilt resort with a laid-back atmosphere, magnificent coral reef and beautiful sandy beaches. From here you can explore Hurghada, go scuba diving or snorkelling and spend time in the historic old town.

Luxor

Enjoy a long but rewarding day visiting Karnak, Hatshepsut and the Valley of the Kings. One of the most important religious centres of ancient times, Karnak Temple is a vast complex with three main temples and several smaller ones radiating outwards from them. Enormous brick walls surround the main temples and the area is thought to cover the entire site of the ancient city of Thebes. As it was customary to offer the spoils of war to the gods, the temples were built in celebration of victorious campaigns in Africa and Asia, and work went on here for 13 centuries!

In contrast, Luxor Temple is much smaller than Karnak and the Egyptians called it the ‘harem of Amun’. It was used for only one month a year at the festival of Opet. Parts of the interior remain, including the stone ceiling emblazoned with paintings still fresh after over 3,000 years.

The Valley of the Kings, where the Pharaohs were buried, has no fewer than 62 rock-cut tombs of which about ten are normally open to the public. Unfortunately, you won't be able to take your camera into the Valley of the Kings.

Cairo by air

The largest city in Africa, Cairo is situated on the banks of the Nile and combines a cosmopolitan blend of Arab, African and European influences. Your guided tour visits the world-famous Egyptian Museum which contains an unrivalled collection of Pharaonic art works, some dating back more than 5,000 years! The most renowned objects are those found in the tomb of Tutankhamun, excavated in 1922 by Howard Carter.

Continue to the three Pyramids of Giza – the Great Pyramid of Cheops and the two smaller pyramids of Mycerinus and Chephren - which have become the symbol of Egypt. You'll also see one of the great enigmas of Egypt here, the Sphinx of Giza, whose lion body and human head were carved out of a natural outcrop of rock.

Lunch and a soft drink are included on this excursion.

Entrance to the interior of the Great Pyramid is not included. From time to time, the pyramids may be closed for restoration work and entrance to the interior may not be possible. The flight takes approximately 50 minutes.

Hurghada and glass-bottom boat trip

Hurghada has grown from a traditional fishing village to a hugely popular tourist resort in the space of just a few years thanks to its fantastic Red Sea coast setting. Like most of this coast, the area is popular for diving and snorkelling, but the town also attracts many Europeans with its wide boulevards fanned by sea breezes. After your city tour, enjoy a glass-bottomed boat ride – the lower deck is below water so you can enjoy viewing sea life from two very different perspectives!
